This is the end of a false suspense, which became tiresome: Nicolas Sarkozy has finally officially noted his return to politics. The former president announced Friday, September 19 his candidacy for the presidency of the UMP, in a statement posted on his Facebook account and relayed on Twitter. His goal: to capture the party’s “build a credible alternative,” before regaining the Elysee during the presidential election of 2017 defeated a performance that no president has been able to achieve under the V th Republic.

He claims to have taken “the essential perspective to analyze the course of one mandate” and having “learned.” The very right-wing line of his campaign?
