A total of 1,331 gay marriages were celebrated in Paris in 2014, 13.48% of the union, according to municipal data obtained by AFP Friday.

Since the enactment of the law Taubira in May 2013, 2,365 marriages gay or lesbians couples were concluded in Paris or 14.14% of the unions. 4,730 persons are married to a person of the same sex since May 2013.



“A stride”

In comparison, the national data collected by INSEE shows that homosexual unions represented 3% of marriages in 2013 (about 7,000 unions about 238,000 marriages in the country).

The INSEE published on January 13 the number of same-sex marriages celebrated in 2014 throughout France. In Paris, since the enactment of the law, lesbians unions represent a quarter same-sex marriages (559 in 2365)

Not surprisingly, it is in the 4th district Marais is located where the largest proportion of gay marriages were celebrated (32.2% of unions). It is in the rich and conservative 16th district of Paris that this rate is the lowest: 6.2%
