Sarkozy wants to restore overtime in the police – Le Point

The president of the UMP, Nicolas Sarkozy, proposed Wednesday on France 2 “to decide immediately to restore overtime in the police and intelligence services “to deal with the terrorist threat. “We have no time to wait for the budget, recruitment of additional staff, who are naturally welcome (…)”, said the former head of state.

“I make a simple proposal (…) you can strengthen our device without wasting time, deciding immediately to restore overtime in the police, the intelligence services,” a- he said.

“4000 full-time equivalent”

This recovery overtime is “4000 full time equivalent over right away,” he said while measures budget announced by the government will do that “staff reinforcements will arrive for the first two years and for the last five years,” he said.

When asked about workforce reductions made during his five-year, Sarkozy said: “this is wrong”.

“All the unions agree,” said he said as he met with the police unions Wednesday.

The UMP had last week a dozen proposals for the fight against terrorism, such as deprivation of nationality for binational, or the application of national indignity crime as an additional penalty . Mr Sarkozy has again raised this deprivation of nationality. He also mentioned the need to be able to ask “tags” and expressed hope that the future intelligence law be “as effective as possible.”

“This is a war against our civilization, our way of life, the way we dress, how we think and how we say,” he said. He expressed concern “that the threat continues for a long time.”
