Tuesday, February 3, Francois Hollande chaired the Invalides rendering national tribute the nine French soldiers killed in the crash of an F-16 on a Spanish air base on 26 January.
The head of state was with the families, members of the government and some personalities.
“These airmen defending away from home, sometimes very far away, the values of the Republic. The freedom, human dignity, equality. Wherever they are incurred, they fight against terrorists, wherever they are, and that threaten our security, “ said the head of state.
The soldiers were decorated by the President of the Republic, posthumously. “On behalf of the French Republic, we make you Knights of the Legion of Honor,” Francois Hollande announced.
