They will therefore not be subject to criminal prosecution, “said the prosecutor, Nicolas Jacquet, in a statement.

” From about misfits, displaced and shocking “

However, the prosecutor stated that “the words of the teacher, the same day of national mourning decreed after a terrorist attack that particularly moved the entire national community, can appear particularly unsuitable displaced and shocking. “

As a result, all hearings and evidence gathered as part of the criminal investigation were communicated to the Academy Rector” so that an appropriate response can be given in the A disciplinary proceeding. “

French soldiers treated as terrorists

On January 8, the day of the attacks in France, the philosophy professor Jean-François Chazerans, teacher Victor Hugo school, had agreed to the request of some of his senior students to lead a debate on the attacks.

During the debate, two groups of students were opposed, one defending total freedom of expression, the other advocating a limited expression and whereas journalists of Charlie Hebdo had gone too far by caricaturing the Prophet Muhammad.

But, according to the criminal investigation entrusted to the antenna Judicial Police of Poitiers , the professor had steered the debate by expressing personal opinions that links between terrorism and what he called imperialism of the West, assimilating the French troops engaged in external operations to terrorists.

These words had provoked strong reactions in particular with students with military parents of some had been engaged in overseas operations. And hearing students confirmed that their teacher used in his lectures to share his personal opinions and activists.

“False trial”

The students, however, said that despite the remarks made at any time the teacher did not hear legitimize or support the work of terrorists.

The investigation was initiated in response to the letter from a student’s parent denouncing the words of the teacher, who had received the support of far-left organizations and associations such as Right to Housing (DAL), which is militant.

DAL has said on Friday “pleased to learn that there will be no prosecution” against the teacher, who according to the association was the victim of a “mock trial, based on the information made available to” DAL. The association called the rectory, in the light of the parquet elements, “reinstate” the teacher, she points out, “has the support of trade unions, co-workers, and many students.”
