Crash of the Airbus A320 found the second black box – Echoes

Investigators got their hands on second black box, AFP quoted the prosecutor of Marseilles. For its part, the German prosecutor said that the co-pilot of the flight has made internet research on suicide and on the operation of cockpit doors.

The second black box Airbus A320 that crashed on March 24 in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence was found Thursday, told AFP the prosecutor of Marseilles.

The prosecutor of Marseilles wishes to clarify that the second black box (DFDR Digital Flight Data Recorder) has been found by investigators on the crash site , “then said the prosecutor Brice Robin, in a very brief statement. This black box contains the flight parameters.

Brice Robin did not give further details on the circumstances of the discovery of the second black box that was sought for more than a week. He said he would speak at a press conference at the courthouse in Marseille to 18pm.

Internet research on the functioning of doors cockpit

For its part, the German prosecutor said that the co-pilot of the flight has made internet research on suicide and on the operation of cockpit security doors.

On an input tablet during a search in one of the homes of the co-pilot Andreas Lubitz, investigators were able to access the research he conducted on the Internet until 23 March, which show that he “informed about ways to commit suicide” as well as “the cockpit doors and security measures,” said in a statement the prosecutor Düsseldorf (west), in charge of the German part of the investigation.

Severe depressive episode

As a reminder, the first black box had been found the same day of the crash and its analysis revealed that the co-pilot, alone in the cockpit at the time of the tragedy, had voluntarily precipitated the fall of the device, causing the death of 150 people.

Andreas Lubitz had experienced a severe depressive episode at the Lufthansa training center in 2009. Initially, the German company, parent company of Germanwings, argued not to be current, before retracting and recognize Tuesday that the first officer would have kept informed of his depression.

What we find in each of the two black boxes

A commercial aircraft has two statutorily black boxes, called FDR (Flight Data Recorder) and CVR (Cockpit Voice Recorder). The FDR recorded second by second all the settings on a 25 hour flight (speed, altitude, trajectory, etc.). The CVR flight recorder “sound” canned conversation, but all the sounds and announcements heard in the cockpit. Acoustic analysis thrust even possible to know the engine speed
