Two men arrested in possession of explosives in the woods … – Le Figaro

The two suspects are presented as “apprentice chemists”. Their custody was extended Sunday evening 24 hours.

The terrorist track was discarded, but their motivations remain enigmatic. Two men posing as “chemists apprentices”, were arrested Saturday night in Saint-Maurice, Val-de-Marne, in the Bois de Vincennes, in possession of improvised explosive. Their custody was extended 24 hours Sunday evening.

The incident occurred shortly before 20 hours Saturday near the Fair Throne is subject to special monitoring under the Vigipirate. The two men, aged 25 and 32, were spotted by police in the woods because of “suspicious behavior”. They bustled around the trunk of their ill-parked car. One of them was getting out of a car a plastic bag he handled with great care.

Inside, officers of the BAC discovered two jars containing a total of 285 grams of explosives. Artisanal in nature, it would be acetone peroxide (TATP). TATP, which can be manufactured from counter products, is a powerful but highly unstable explosive. It was used by Richard Reid in 2001 while the latter was planning to blow up a flight from Paris to New York. There is also TATP during investigations into the attacks of Marrakech in 2011 and Boston in 2013.

The younger of the two suspects is from Seine-Saint-Denis, one of the Val-de -Marne and lives near the scene of the arrest. They said they wanted to test in the Bois de Vincennes to measure their explosive power. According to Le Parisien, they are both known for acts of “petty”: robberies, drug trafficking and traffic offenses. Their name is not on file counter-terrorism and radicalization no trace was detected in their homes. One of them says Buddhist. Literature of this religion was found in him searched.

The 2nd Judicial Police Division Paris has received the survey. Deminers destroyed on Saturday seized explosives.
