(Updated with ABC News clarifications, Air France and threats on other flights)
NEW YORK, May 26 (Reuters) – An Air France plane from Paris was Monday escorted by two fighter aircraft F-15 US Air Force until internationalJohn F. Kennedy airport in New York after an anonymous threat.
A spokesman FBI, J. Peter Donald, said the passengers of Flight 22 Air France from Paris Charles de Gaulle had been able to land and had reported nothing specific on board.
On his Twitter feed, the management of Air France confirmed in the early evening that the flight AF22 was well posed to the New York airport where the passengers disembarked normally. An inspection of the aircraft was carried out.
According to the New York Post, there were 165 passengers and 11 crew members on board the aircraft, an Airbus A-330.
The Maryland Police said they received that morning an anonymous call evoking “a bomb threat concerning commercial aviation”.
According to ABC News, citing a US official, the call involved a threat of chemical weapons on board the device.
The aircraft stopped in a secure area of the airport. For now, the inspections have not worked, says ABC News.
Other flights have also been affected Monday by anonymous threats, including aircraft of Saudi Arabian Airlines in the course of inspection at Newark airport. (Nick Zieminski and Ellen Wulfhorst with Andrea Shalal àWashington; Kerivel Guy and Henri-Pierre André for the French service)
