PARIS, May 25 (Reuters) – The future experimental “room shoot” of Paris will eventually be installed in the premises of the Lariboisière Hospital in the tenth district, because of the hostility of local residents Boulevard La Chapelle where she was to be implanted, announced the mayor of Paris.
“This is a health device, it leans to the hospital” comments in the newspaper Le Monde on Tuesday Bernard Jomier Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of health.
“We will not go users through the front door of the hospital, it will be a more discreet access,” he added.
Asked by Le Monde, the Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux deParis (AP-HP) confirmed “working with the city to accommodate this center”.
According to Bernard Jomier the Site initially accepted, located on a plot of the train near the Gare du Nord, “showed defects, including its isolation and inaccessibility.”
And the presence of a camp proximity to migrants creates a “too degraded urban environment to consider opening up the room.”
Thomas Dusouchet, pharmacist and coordinator of the Gaia Association, which should administer this’ room shoot, welcomed the choice.
“The local residents and we get satisfaction we are pleased with this decision,” he said on iTELE.
MEPs gave the green light in early April to experimentation rooms “consumption reduced risk” (SCMR) more commonly called “shooting galleries”, despite the hostility of the opposition.
These rooms will be managed by professionals of reception and support centers in risk reduction among drug users (CAARUD) which is permitted the consumption of illicit drugs under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team.
The text incorporated in the bill to modernize the health system, authorize an experiment with a duration of six years. Two other rooms could later open àBordeaux and Strasbourg. (Yann Le Guernigou, edited by Danielle Rouquié)
