Pantheon program of a national tribute day – Le Figaro

This Wednesday at 17h, Francois Hollande held the Pantheon ceremony of four figures of resistance: Germaine Tillion, Genevieve de Gaulle-Anthonioz, Jean Zay and Pierre Brossolette. On the occasion of the national day of resistance decreed in 2013, the president will deliver a speech of tribute under the dome of the Rue Soufflot (fifth district), “one of the most important of his five years’ according to a his family, and thoroughly prepared for a month.

While yesterday a first tribute was paid by the city of Paris in the presence of the family of resilient, 1000 guests are expected to attend the official ceremony. Coffins, who spent the night at the Sorbonne in military custody, will be transferred to the Pantheon to 16h, with a procession of 144 people. “To illustrate the participation of the entire nation and the importance of transmitting values ​​of the Resistance, for high school students, students or involved in associations were invited,” says one at the Elysee. The coffins will then be greeted on the steps of the building by nine figures of the fighter world, as the Chancellor of the Order of the Liberation Fred Moore.

After the presidential speech scheduled at 17h, the four coffins will be directed inside the Pantheon and placed side by side in the cellars located in the avenue Jean Moulin, with the Righteous of France – panthéonisés in 2007 by Jacques Chirac. The building will then be free access to visitors from 20 hours and up to 22 hours.
