Villefontaine principal was set in March exam for allegedly rape of eleven students, allegedly committed between December and March. The man had been sentenced in 2008 to six months suspended sentence for possession of child pornography, a judgment which National Education had not been informed.
Following this case, several cases of teachers convicted in the past have been reported to the Ministry of Education, who checked with Justice if the information were true.
A sports teacher at a college of Orgères, near Rennes, has been suspended in April. He was sentenced in 2006 for possession of the image of a minor with pornographic. Nothing has concluded to possible aggressions of students. The man is currently under investigation for sexual assault of a minor under 15 years “within the family” .
As a result of these revelations, the Ministries of Education and Justice had initiated an administrative investigation dual – very rare procedure – to address the shortcomings and make proposals.
57 members of Education revoked
The two departments had also met the presidents and prosecutors Academy General in Paris in early April to remind the need to implement the circular of the Ministry of Justice in November 2001 that requires Justice to inform the Education of convictions for serious offenses teachers.
The last three years, 57 members of National Education were dismissed for pedophile acts or possession of child pornography, after reporting of Justice to educational services, 14 in 2014. The National Education around 840 000 teachers from kindergarten to high school.
