jihadist Islamic State Group (EI) have killed at least 400 civilians in Palmyra, mostly women and children, reported this Sunday, Syrian state media.
The media say rely on testimonials from people in the city, called Tadmur in Arabic and famous for its ancient remains, classified by UNESCO as World Heritage Site.
Syrian opposition activist said on social media that hundreds of bodies lay in the streets of the city after its capture by Wednesday Sunni fundamentalists. These bodies would be those people supporting the Syrian government, they said.
“The terrorists have killed more than 400 people [...] and mutilated their bodies, under the pretext that they were cooperating with government and not obeying orders, “writes the Syrian news agency Sana.
The agency added that dozens of officials, including the director of a hospital and all members of his family, were killed
