Labour law: a survivor of Oradour-sur-Glane refuses to be decorated by Valls – The Express

Senon Camille, 93, stands up to Manuel Valls. In solidarity with the social movement against the labor law, the survivor of the massacre of Oradour-sur-Glane (Haute-Vienne) in 1944, has opposed a plea to the proposal of the Prime Minister to raise the rank of Commander of the National Order of merit.

“In the current environment it is impossible for me to accept your part this distinction [...] while I am totally in solidarity with the struggles of the past two months by workers, young people, a majority of MPs and French against the law work you just impose the 49.3 “she wrote in a letter to Manuel Valls late May. Accept this honor today would, she says, “deny all my life activist for justice and solidarity, freedom, brotherhood and peace.”

Attached Sunday the applicant spoke of “an accident of the calendar which falls particularly bad.” “When I received the proposal on 17 May it was obvious to me that in this context where people are struggling for their rights and where my fellow trade unionists Air France are brought before the courts it was simply unacceptable for me to receive this distinction on a proposal from Mr Manuel Valls, “she added.

A tireless unionist and feminist activist

Already a recipient of the Legion of Honour, this survivor of Oradour-sur-Glane, who lost his family in the killing of people by the posting of the Waffen SS Das Reich June 10, 1944, is a tireless unionist and feminist activist.

Former General Secretary of the union giro, it was one of the leading members of the CGT PTT. In 2014, this voice that carries the memorial landscape had borne his name on the list of opposition of the Left Front in the municipal elections in Limoges.

More recently, in October 2015, it had, despite his advanced age, attended the celebration of 120 years of the creation of the CGT, in Limoges, with the trade union leader Philippe Martinez.
