Paris: evacuation of a camp for migrants – Le Figaro

A camp of migrants who had recently reconstituted in northern Paris is being evacuated this morning. This is the largest operation of its kind on the 26 recorded since June 2015, the last dating back to June 29

In all, from 1500 to 2000 people, mostly men from Eritrea, Somalia or Afghanistan, gathered before being sheltered by the prefecture services the Ile-de-France region. They occupied a vast encampment where hundreds of tents located on boulevard de la Villette, between Jaurès metro and Colonel Fabien, straddling the tenth and nineteenth districts.

An important police device and gendarmerie was up since 5:00 this morning. Also present are several associations and members of the French Office for Immigration and Integration (OFII). The evacuation began around 6:00, first in peace, before the voltage rises slightly. Shortly after 7 pm, the representatives of the town hall of the Tenth Arrondissement railed against the “batons and tear gas to contain the given movement.”

36 bus should take the migrants to emergency shelters. 1500 places reserved for them in which 800 requisitioned gyms in Ile-de-France. Others are sent home and Orientation Centre (EAC), including Nancy. The first bus having left the premises were reserved for vulnerable populations (women, children, unaccompanied minors).
