A skier died in an avalanche while he was off- track, Monday, February 2 afternoon near the Pyrenean resort of Mourtis (Haute-Garonne).
The man was swept away by a snow slide with four other people.
All are between twenty and thirty years, and are native to the area, so accustomed to mountaineering.
After the avalanche, three of them were left unharmed, a fourth was wounded in the leg. The fifth died of his injuries. According to a journalist from France 3, it would have hit an obstacle in his fall.
Skiers were nevertheless informed of the risk of avalanche, estimated at four on a scale of five.
Tonight all the Haute-Garonne ski resorts are closed because of the danger of the area.
