Five killed in the Hautes-Alpes – Le Monde

Three people were killed in an avalanche that began Wednesday 1 st April in the Ecrins, between the Isere and Hautes-Alpes, in the prefecture of Hautes-Alpes. A fourth person is in a “state of absolute urgency”, say the authorities. The latter, whose life is involved, must be evacuated by helicopter to Grenoble hospital.

The avalanche occurred in the area of ​​Emile-Peak Pass, at around 15 pm more than 3000 meters. The high mountain police squad (PGHM) Briancon, supported by the PGHM Grenoble and Modane (Savoie) are currently on site for research. Their progress is hampered by winds of 80 km / hour.

Two other climbers have also been found dead after a fall Wednesday afternoon in the massive Dévoluy in the same department, according to the prefecture.
