The list of capitals of the new areas of the territorial reform should soon be known. The 13 prefectures selected by the government will be presented by the Cabinet in the coming days.

According to the latest rumors and news from some media, this list would already stopped. The city of Montpellier would be the biggest loser in this territorial reform. Indeed, Toulouse was chosen to become the capital of the Midi-Pyrenees Languedoc-Roussillon region.

Philippe Saurel, mayor of Montpellier, is disappointed by spreading these rumors because it does there has not been a final decision. He also believes that it is not a big surprise if his prefecture loses to Toulouse. However, he stressed that the economic potential of the academic and administrative héraultaise agglomeration should not be cut if Toulouse win. He also wants a series of significant compensation.

There are two cities over a large area. They must be treated fairly by the government.
