The state of health of the Algerian President is of great concern, but especially large uncertainties. Tuesday, December 16, the website of the Algerian newspaper “El Watan” reported Abdelaziz Bouteflika would again have been hospitalized in France, specifically in the military hospital of Val de Grace in Paris, whose closure has also was announced by the government a few months ago. According to the website, the president would have been “urgently transported by air ambulance” , which landed at Le Bourget airport near Paris.

On November 13, he had already suffered a series of medical exam at a clinic in Grenoble.

This is not the first stay Abdelaziz Bouteflika at the Val de Grace: the Algerian president had been treated for nearly three months last year following a stroke. In 2005, he also spent three weeks in this hospital, where he was operated on a “bleeding ulcer.”

President of Algeria since 1999, Abdelaziz Bouteflika was re-elected for the fourth time at the head of his country. At 77, his failing health no longer allows him to intervene on live television or to speak in public, what he has not done since April 2013.
