The president of the departmental council of the Var Marc Giraud (The Republicans) was placed in custody on Tuesday to be understood in the context of a fictional alleged use case while he was mayor of a small town Var, is it a source close to the investigation.
Marc Giraud, former mayor of Carqueiranne (Var), and two of its employees for mayor are heard by the judicial police in Toulon , the source said confirming a report by France Bleu Provence. Investigators are questioning the alleged fictitious job at the town hall of Carqueiranne for several years of a departmental
councilor, Patricia Arnould, running mate Marc Giraud for departmental elections. 
Patricia Arnould had been placed in custody on June 16 and indicted two days later for “concealment of misappropriation of public funds”.
