UDI and Republicans divorcing – The World

When the Republicans party (LR) agreed on the principle of an open primary to nominate its candidate for president, it was obvious that the process should integrate the centrists, so that only one candidate is running in 2017 or risk elimination in the first round against the FN and the PS. Hence the name “the primary right and center.” But for now, the primary concerns only the right because the UDI refuses to participate in the elections of 20 and 27 November.

The President of the centrist party, Jean-Christophe Lagarde, called on militants his motion to rule in favor of a boycott of the primary as a programmatic, government and legislative agreement is not reached with LR.
