The trial of the A1 vandals opens in Amiens – Le Figaro

Twelve members from the community of Travellers will appear Thursday in corrections in Amiens. They are suspected of last August, ransacked the A1 to oppose a court.

They were violently opposed to justice and they will now have to face it. Twelve people from the community of Travellers will be judged from this Thursday until Friday in Amiens for damage on the A1 in August at the toll Roye.

These violent outbursts had indeed originated from the decision of a magistrate of Amiens. He had refused to leave prison one of the members of this community that attends the funeral of his father, violently killed by a frenzied few days earlier to Roye. In response, a few hours later, the Travellers had blocked ransacked the A1. With stolen tires were burned, uprooted trees along the roads, a dam had been erected on the highway, one of the busiest in France, at the toll Roye. This peaceful demonstration was hardly gone unnoticed had occurred since Friday, August 28, back from vacation day red classified. Thousands of motorists found themselves, despite themselves, first hand overflows.

All reports televisions were scrutinized

these summonses to court bar contradict the comments of those who had certified that such acts would never be punished. At the time, when this stretch of highway had been attacked by the assailants in fury, the police were not in fact occurred. Police unions but also many policies were strangled. And traveling people – voyageant- by nature, it was hardly likely that we then lose track vandals

If the set had been given by the prefectural authorities not to intervene. for fear of a possible fire, investigators then quietly worked. All reports televisions were scrutinized to identify faces but also the license plates. The aerial images taken by the gendarmerie section of Amiens also helped to provide useful shots in the investigation. Finally, a work around telephony was conducted to geotag their owners that August 28 evening.

“A stroke of anger on the part of this community that we hear his sufferings”

But so far, many elements remain questionable in this case tried botched by some defense lawyers. “There has been no investigation and the facts are not always prepared,” said Mr. Jerome Crépin, four defendants Council. For one of its customers, the license plate of the vehicle has been identified near the dam, but assures the lawyer, he was not the one who was driving. “In this community, we pay much cars,” he said, estimating that justice, though lacking evidence, “even when trying it out with this trial!”

Beyond folder contents, are the facts and their meaning. “It was a real shot in anger from this community that we hear his suffering,” said Stéphane Daquo. Three days before this August 28 in Roye, a madman had therefore shot shotgun three of them-three people from the same family- and a policeman. A move that had shaken this close-knit community and in particular one of its members, since it was his father who had been killed. In prison at the time of the tragedy, he had asked to participate in the funeral scheduled Saturday, August 29 but was turned down by the court. Anger erupted a few hours later on the highway. “With the means of action which are the same used today by taxi drivers or farmers,” notes the passage Me Daquo.

But the blow of anger evoked by the latter is not it actually a show of force and a real means of pressure which has also been very successful? Saturday, justice was exceptionally set to work to finally give what she had refused the day before. It wiped son could leave his cell and visit the grave of his father … For Sanef, concessionaire in charge of the A1, and civil party to the trial, it was certainly a blow. Between the damage and operating losses, the amount of damage suffered, amounts it claims 500 000.
