This is a new mountain drama that hit yet experienced skiers Tuesday. This group of twenty people were hiking on a mountain in the Massif du Queyras when three of its members were swept away by an avalanche. The risk level was 3/5 for the day above 2,200 m and they were at 2.500m at the time of the tragedy. These athletes were yet aware of the danger since they are all members of Albertville Alpine Ski Club.

If two people were found washed away quickly and without serious injury thanks to their rescue devices to victims, the third 59 year old was in cardio-ventilatory stop when she was rescued. Despite several attempts at resuscitation, she died in hospital in Briançon where she was airlifted.
Principle, a preliminary investigation was opened by the prosecutor of Gap’s chief of manslaughter but its results will not be known for several weeks. The prefect of the Hautes-Alpes Court Philippe launched “a new call for vigilance to all users” and warned against “any output outside the ski area” in a statement.
