Manifestation of night of the police : the IGPN opens an administrative enquiry – LCI

POLICE – police behavior that have shown that night on the Champs-Elysées (8th) is deemed “unacceptable” by the director-general of the national police (DGPN). An investigation has been entrusted to the IGPN.

An event, non-declared, in uniform and with cars. The police officers who marched in the night of Monday 17 to Tuesday 18 October on the Champs-Elysées are subject to administrative prosecution. The director general of the national police, Jean-Marc Falcone, said in a press release that their behavior was “unacceptable”.

“These terms and conditions of the public expression of police officers being contrary to their statutory obligations”, an administrative investigation of the general inspectorate of the national police (IGPN) was opened, he adds, “in order to determine and clarify individual defaults to the statutory rules”.

According to the police hierarchy, if the “emotion and anger aroused by [the assault of the police officers in Viry-Châtillon] are legitimate, [...] the expression of this anger must comply with the rules that apply to police officers”.
