Disabilities, younger and educated than their spouses: sketch of female victims of violence – TF1

The National Observatory of delinquency and criminal responses (ONDRP) on Wednesday released an unprecedented survey portraying victims of violence in their torque . It provides an analysis of “profiles of people 18 to 75 years” claiming to be victims of physical or sexual violence and the author (s) is the spouse.

This information was obtained from the survey results say victimization conducted between 2008 and 2014 with INSEE. Each year some 17,000 representative households are questioned and delinquency facts they claim to have suffered and for which they are not systematically complaint.

The study focuses on men and women claiming to be victims of violence in the couple of two years: 8 2 per thousand of respondents for men, 18.7 per thousand for women. For ONDRP, a minority of reported facts are cases of sexual violence.

The study notes that women victims of violence are most often from older men, while the opposite is true for men. Having a spouse with an age gap of more than 5 years led by women claiming to be victims to 32 cases per thousand.

The results of the victimization surveys settle on official crime figures, especially based on actual complaints of the French. For domestic violence or intra-family, the complaint rates are often very low in France, according to ONDRP.
