Taxis-VTC: Parliament vote definitively Law – Frenchweb.fr

This is now recognized as follows: the National Assembly voted Thursday evening the bill on taxis and chauffeured cars in second reading, as the Senate had adopted late July, the latter being derived from the report by Thomas Thévenoud. In the Chamber, socialists, environmentalists and left-wing radicals have voted favorably, while the UMP and the UDI abstained.

Among the new measures, the text prohibits use VTC geolocation, the heart of their business model, which allows them to collect orders from mobile users. Conversely, the law encourages taxis to adopt this technology through the creation of a “register of taxi availability.” These can also be assigned a unique color in a given vehicle according prefectures (like “yellow cabs” in New York) geographic area.

Diversify activities

Other heart-wrenching for companies VTC: the obligation to return to the base between each race rather than chained customers after customers. The Senate, however, eased in late July this measure by forcing such a return only if the driver would not have a new race already registered.

In this new context, the VTC rely not only on extension of their network to new French cities but have also diversified. Three options are now being considered or tested by VTC: business travel, organizing carpooling and freight
