The fire of a building containing potentially explosive materials prevented the circulation of six trains late Wednesday on the Paris-Limoges-Toulouse before being controlled by firefighters, do we learned from of these and of SNCF. The fire was extinguished in the evening, allowing traffic to resume on a path alternately. The fire started around 17 h 30 in a building adjoining the Souillac station town located 140 kilometers from Toulouse, according to firefighters, which indicate that 90 people and about thirty vehicles were mobilized at the scene.
Approximately one third of the surface of the building 1000 m² had been destroyed, and firefighters feared spread of fire silos containing rapeseed and soybean dust, which can be explosive. Firefighters said they were “somewhat more serene” to 23 hours, indicating that they would be able to empty the silos and build a device “light” monitoring for the rest of the night. The station and its surroundings had previously been evacuated.
A line section neutralized
The rail traffic was completely stopped on the adjacent track 18 to 30 pm, and a line section was neutralized between Brive-la-Gaillarde (Corrèze) and Gourdon (Lot), according to a spokesman for SNCF. He eventually resumed on a path to 22 hours, allowing the passage of six Intercity trains and night freight trains. Three passengers and three Intercités TER, about 450 people had previously been conveyed by bus or taxi to their destination, the source said.
