Paris: a death in a fire in Ménilmontant – Le Point

Thirty firefighters were mobilized on Monday to control a fire in Paris in the popular district of Ménilmontant. The fire, which took in an apartment on the fifth floor, one person was killed and one wounded. According to Le Parisien , which collected the testimony of a trader, it is a housing harboring a retired couple. The woman died. Her husband was revived on the spot by the emergency services. “I saw the man out just for the fire department. His face was blackened by smoke. It was supported by the firefighters came in numbers,” assured a neighbor.

“This is an elderly man who has trouble sometimes to walk. I have often seen him tired, but he was doing rather well when he went shopping. when the fire started, he came to call the neighbors. His girlfriend was scared and took refuge in the kitchen. She, apparently, afraid to go out fearing the flames rising, “he said. It’s a match fell on the carpet which would have caused the departure of the fire. The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters without spread to neighboring apartments.
