A new survey confirms indeed limited enthusiasm that triggers the announcement of his return: six out of ten French (61%) and disagree with its decision to run for president of the UMP, and nearly two out of three do not want that it could be a candidate for president in 2017, according to a CSA poll for BFM TV broadcast * Saturday night.
63% of the French against a presidential bid
After the announcement by the former head of state to run for the head of the UMP, 35% of respondents say they do not approve “at all” and 26% that decision “not really”. Instead, they are 17% to approve “strongly” and 22% “somewhat”. Supporters of the UMP however approve overwhelmingly (89%) the decision to Nicolas Sarkozy, against 11% take the opposite view. The candidacy of former president also meets with the approval of 77% of all supporters of right. The choice of Nicolas Sarkozy to run for president of the UMP is however overwhelmingly disapproved (91%) by supporters of the Socialist Party and 89% from those of the entire left.
the question “Would you like Nicolas Sarkozy or candidate” for president in 2017?, 63% of respondents answer negatively (41% “not at all”, 22% “not really”), against 37% of a notice otherwise (17% “strongly”, 20% “somewhat”). Sarkozy candidacy in 2017 is still popular with UMP (86%), but 73% of those of the entire right. It is also massively rejected by supporters of PS (92%) and those of the whole of the left (90%).
A welcome chilled
This survey joins other studies that may seem quite disturbing for the former president. Only 29% of French believe he is honest and, as an Ifop / South West poll Sunday. This does not prevent 51% of them hold that has the makings of a president. And according to a poll for Le Parisien Odoxa-Today in France and iTV, 55% say that his return is a “bad thing”, and 67% of them believe that Nicolas Sarkozy does “not changed.”
