How do you analyze how Nicolas Sarkozy operates his return to the political scene, ? two years after his defeat

Christian Delporte: Nicolas Sarkozy against a model: Valéry Giscard d’Estaing. Since 2012, he did the opposite of what he had done after his defeat. First, he ensured a successful exit. 6 May 2012, Sarkozy went to meet his supporters to whom he gave a sober and dignified speech. VGE, he was not found in the twilight of his failure, 10 May 1981 made no statement and merely a televised address rather missed nine days later, before disappearing from the radar.

Sarkozy and his friends were then able to install the idea that he had not really lost in 2012, his score of the second round (48.36%) was very honorable, even a few days longer he would campaign allowed to prevail. VGE was not in this situation. His defeat was unquestionable, even though he had almost the same score as Sarkozy (48.24%). He was the loser, and after leaving the Elysee Palace, his party, the UDF, drew a line on him. Two years after his departure, Sarkozy, he remains very popular with the base UMP and nobody replaced as head of the party.
