Over the months, lost, reshuffles government and court cases have melted the socialist workforce increased from 297 representatives in summer 2012 to 289 today, counting the related parties. One more defection and the PS would lose its absolute majority, which currently allows him to not depend on anyone, partner or opponent, to vote his texts.

As of today, excluding Thomas Thévenoud increases the weight of “rebellious” socialists, who could more easily swing the outcome of a vote.

It also gives importance to the “outsiders” of the majority, able to impose their demands in exchange for a rally in government: the seventeen members of the group of left-wing radicals, both socialist excluded – Sylvie Andrieux (who sits in non-registered since its exclusion from PS) and Thomas Thévenoud – and eighteen environmentalists

This may lead to loss in PS absolute majority

  • The exclusion of the group or the resignation of a new socialist deputy

  • The appointment of a member to a top job – for example at the Elysee – in a national agency or international organization. Transmission parliamentary seat to the acting is indeed possible that in the case of an appointment to a ministerial portfolio. For all other appointments, legislative part to be organized, giving the opposition an opportunity to steal a seat in PS.
