Finistère: 3 dead in a road accident – The Figaro

Three people died and two girls were seriously injured Thursday in a traffic accident involving several vehicles to Lothey, in the south-east of Châteaulin (Finistère, brittany), according to a new assessment of the prefecture. The accident, which involved an rv, two cars and a truck, according to the prefecture, occurred in the early evening on the national 165, a four-lane that connects Quimper to Brest.

According to the sub-prefect of Châteaulin, Bernard Musset, camping-car, from Quimper, has, for an unknown reason, crossed the guardrail and ended up on the tracks opposite. He turned around and was hit by a truck and then the two cars that followed him. Camping-car, including the driver of fifty years died, and then ignited, said the sub-prefect, speaking of a “huge fire”.

the driver of The truck was slightly injured. Despite the fire from spreading to one of the cars hit, he was able to get out and save the two girls of 9 and 12 years who were in the back, explained Mr. Musset. Seriously injured, they were transported to the hospital in Brest. The woman at the wheel of the car, probably their mother, died. The passenger, presumably his daughter of 14 years, according to Mr. Musset, is also deceased. The investigation must determine the exact identity of the occupants of this car.

The driver of the second car that was hit was slightly injured. He has been hospitalized, according to Mr. Musset. The traffic on the national was cut in both directions and diversions have been put in place. An investigation has been opened by the gendarmerie.
