The Academy inspection of Corsica a complaint against X after threats against two teachers from the school in the village of Prunelli-di-Fiumorbu. The teachers wanted to blackmail the students the song “Imagine” by John Lennon for the school fair, scheduled for 26 June.
The teachers wished to interpret this hymn to freedom in several languages, but some parents objected to their children sing the verses in Arabic.
A combination between language and religion
These parents intimidated the teachers at the exit of the school. They also threatened to disrupt the course of the fair. The festival has been canceled and teachers have exercised their right of withdrawal on Monday. They deplored in a statement “the confusion between language and religion as well as misinformation conveyed by some parents” in this Corsican village with strong North African community.
