The director of Vulcania found dead at the foot of a cliff – The World

Catherine Damesin, director of Vulcania theme park dedicated to the Auvergne volcanoes and earth sciences, was found dead Wednesday, February 18, at the foot of a cliff in the Massif du Sancy, in the Puy Dome. She had been missing since Sunday morning when she had gone hiking alone as she usually did according to his family.

“Tonight Vulcania is mourning” , said Wednesday the president of the park, Jean Mallot, in a statement. “Faced with this tragedy, our thoughts turn first to Catherine’s family and all his relatives whom we share the pain” , added Mr. Mallot who shared his “immense sadness” as well as “entire Vulcania staff” .

Catherine Damesin was appointed in 2007 to head to revive Vulcania the park, which was on the verge of financial collapse after a few years of operation. Become more playful and enriched with new attractions, since he had found a second wind. During the 2014 season, the park was well received nearly 330,000 visitors.
