The number of road deaths up 12% in January – TF1

Just like 2014, the month of January 2015 was particularly bad for road safety . The National Interministerial Observatory for Road Safety (ONISR) announced Thursday an increase of 12% of road deaths, with 263 people killed against 235 a year earlier.

“Road mortality is experiencing a rather strong increase from January 2014. However, the number of injured in hospital, the wounded and injury accidents are down (-13.5% respectively – 10.1% -10.1%), “said ONISR. “The mortality of motorists after a decline in December, moves up in January. The pedestrians and cyclists also shows an increase from one month to another. Conversely, the moped seems to support its recent trend down, “he added.

The increase on a month comes just weeks after the publication of annual statistics wrong with a rise of 3.7% in the number of deaths on the French roads in 2014, the first year of growth for twelve years. The government presented late January a 26-control measures plan to curb the increase. The last 12 months, taking into account so January 2015, the number of those killed was up 4.8% compared to the same period a year earlier.
