A baby declared dead after drowning in an inflatable pool Monday at Valenciennes (North), has temporarily regained consciousness but eventually died in hospital despite attempts by doctors to keep him alive, told AFP Mayor of Valenciennes.
“ The baby unfortunately has died. I do not have more information,” said late Monday Degallaix Lawrence Mayor (UDI) of the Yankee town.
“The caution was ,” said he added about the successive reversals, while hope, against all odds, to save the child had arisen.
A few minutes earlier, the mayor had told AFP that the baby, aged 14 months, had, to everyone’s surprise, regained consciousness in the hospital in Valenciennes and was urgently transferred to the Hospital Lille, confirming a report in the newspaper La Voix du Nord. After the accident and several attempts to revive the boy, on site and during his trip to the emergency room, the child was pronounced dead at the hospital and had to be Valenciennes “transported to the cold room” said Mr. Degallaix.
